I grew up in Acworth, Georgia exploring the forests around my home and learning about the history of the area, which has had a great impact on my work. I usually work in large format black and white with either a view camera or a self-made pinhole camera. My finished work is often either a photogravure or an alternative photographic process contact printed with the whole frame visible. This increases the handmade feel of the work, and makes each piece unique. I enjoy the hands-on nature of these processes, and how I can manipulate them physically to change the outcome of a piece. I am also interested in working with processes that go back to the beginnings of photography, when the artists were constantly experimenting with new techniques and discovering the formulas.
